man i've really been behind on some stuff i've wanted to post on here (taking care of a 2 month old while dealing with various family commitments and appointments will do that to you) so i am going to try and catch up on what i can in the next hour, and then probably post some other stuff tonight.
i am super behind on my Oscar predictions, so let's cut the crap and get to my prediction for Achievement in Art Direction.
The nominees:
- Good Night and Good Luck
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- King Kong
- Memoirs of a Geisha
- Pride and Prejudice
my prediction:
King Kong. much like my reasoning for
why Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is going to win on Costume Design, i think
King Kong is going to win because it has two of the elements that all of its competitors have--they are either period pieces, or sci-fi/fantasy.
King Kong is both. and i think that's a tough combo to pull off. Of course, it becomes a lot easier when you have the WETA Workshop behind it, and its WETA's meticulous attention to detail that has been making Peter Jackson's work look so groundbreaking compared to all of the other films coming out of the science fiction/fantasy genre as of late.
later: Best Music (Score)
